  • A: One of the most spectacular and unforgettable things to do while you're on Maui is take in a dramatic sunrise from the summit in Haleakala National Park. There are four viewpoints to choose from, and all are reachable by car: Red Hill, Haleakala Visitor Center, Kalahaku Overlook & Leleiwi Overlook. But before you go, please make reservations, as they are required and only available online at www.recreation.gov. The cost for a reservation is $1.50 per vehicle and you can make your reservation up to 60 days before your visit. Please note that general park admission is not included in your sunrise reservation.
  • A: Enjoy a variety of hiking trails in Haleakala National Park. Ranging from short, easy walks of 10 minutes or less to multi-day overnight backcountry trips, there's something for everyone. The Summit Area has more than 30 miles of rugged trails and is the most strenuous, with steep inclines, higher elevations and more variable weather conditions. For those seeking a more relaxed experience, the Kipahulu Area offers 3 miles of easy trails that meander along the lush tropical coastline. Wherever you hike, be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions, bring adequate sun protection and enough food & water for your excursion.
